Mi Cinco

In this day and age, it is safe to say it will be difficult to go through a day without our mobile smartphones. The invention of a smartphone has provided humans with convenience, as technology should, to daily lives. The only thing the smartphone cannot do is turn the user into a superhero. As for myself, my mobile device provides me with entertainment, healthy, and social aspects to my day-to-day functions.

Bienvenido a “My Mobile Journey”

When I have awakened from my slumber, the first app I login to is a mobile game. Purely for entertainment and satisfaction of developing a strong team of 5 heroes to dominate everyone else:

UNO - Mobile Legends: Adventure

I want to WIN! If I miss a day I can fall behind!

  • An Idle Role-Playing Game. The idle aspect is that your account continues to collect resources even when you are offline.

  • The main goal is simple, collect different resources and heroes and make them stronger.

  • Features couple of routes, a campaign, player-vs-player area, tower climb, puzzle games, and frequent events.

Mobile Legends is fun, it functions like a coffee to me, take my time to wake up and I use it for a total of 45 minutes on average daily. Later in the day, I would check again as it provides with some “me” time. The downside is that I lack the patience required for the game (without spending money to give a little boost) and the repetitive and tedious nature of an idle game. A love-hate relationship is awfully tricky.

Marketer’s Perspective:

  • A rather tedious and repetitive routine, however it is rewarding but at a snail’s pace on a daily basis. A sense of achievement while being entertained. To retain players, less tedious and rewarding events should happen.

DOS - Spotify

I want to DANCE! But not really.

  • A music & podcast streaming app.

  • Can be free for 30 minutes (Questionable, never seemed to be 30 minutes). However, you must listen to these “amazing” (I lied here) ads for approximately 1 minute.

  • Can purchase monthly membership as well which has different tiers. Student, Single use, Family, and Duo use.

Spotify is must-have app when I am driving or at the gym. Other then that, I don’t really use the app on any other occasion. Very important on those occasions though, providing music or podcasts during a drive and hype music/audio during a workout. My main issue I had was the free version, it was rather depressing. Ads were not relevant, long, and felt like it was not worth. If this was their plan, it succeeded, because I quickly purchased a membership to avoid all the interrupted exercises or car karaoke moments. Search function or audio separation made it rather difficult to located non-English songs for individuals that cannot type in that language.

Marketer’s Perspective:

  • Music and podcasts are very popular, with a wide variety of them available, Spotify’s membership system is spot-on.

  • To accommodate a greater number of users of different languages, incorporating voice search optimization can boost user friendliness.

TRES – Instagram

I want to be inspired!

  • Social networking app that focuses on photos and video sharing.

  • Owned by Facebook since 2012

Instagram acts as a filler for me. If I am walking, waiting for computer to load up, or just bored. It sometimes also inspires me with new ideas or develop a vision for a project at work. Instagram is very well developed; I honestly cannot think of a downside through my experiences. Although it does become extremely unattractive for individuals to be glued to their phones while with company. AND how the camera “eats” first before I can. However, I understand this is not purely Instagram’s fault.

Marketer’s Perspective:

  • Users can also be using Instagram for inspiration or ideas, the ability to narrow down even further the preferences and behaviours of the user to show only relatable posts.

  • A simpler interface to scroll through reels or posts that a user wants to see at the time. For example, I might like cars and games. What cars and what games and the option to see only cars in the “search” tab.

CUATRO – WhatsApp

I want to know/talk/connect!

  • A free, cross platform messaging app.

  • Allows texting, voice messages, voice calls, video calls, sharing documents, locations, etc.

WhatsApp is my topmost used and most important app. Like for everyone, communication with friends, socializing brings joy and happiness. Using it daily to chat with friends, update my parents, or share something you saw while browsing. The voice message has made it a lot more interactive and eliminates any miscommunication that can happen between human beings. A text message can be perceived very differently, depends on the level of understand the other has of you as a person. WhatsApp is a very simple app that started with instant messaging to now video calling and sharing files, etc. There is an issue with privacy that has been a great debate in the recent years. It is a bit scary, however it is rather difficult to shift everyone you know to another app, almost impossible to come to a consensus.

Marketer’s Perspective:

  • The social aspect in our daily lives are important and the convenience and innovative methods WhatsApp provides, generally aids this. Being one of the main apps to use for communication, allowing users to connect with friends especially during covid-19.

  • Security will be a constant issue; measures can be taken to reassure users that their information is safe OR how it can be safer like what not to share via WhatsApp.

CINCO - My Workout Plan

I WANT TO DESTRESS!

  • A workout app that allows tracking your routines.

  • Build your own routine and keep track of your progress.

  • Contains almost every exercise you can think of and illustrations to show the How-to

  • Simple and free.

If you have workout long enough you would know that consistency is key. Exercising is one part of a healthy and fit lifestyle. Also, if you are like me, forgetful in this aspect, then this app is perfect. It allows me to keep track of the volume I lifted last week and what exercises at what weights, etc. I use this everyday at the gym and a little bit before and after to remind myself, “I workout to EAT”. The only downside, there are no recommendations, recent exercising news, or premade routines. A human body is complex and to support the healthy movement, it would be very pleasing to see updated suggestions or routines to accompany certain goals.

Marketer’s Perspective:

  • Requires more engagement implemented with the application. Where it stands now is purely practical ONLY if the user has some experience or has done their own research via another source already.

  • Innovative actions like providing workouts examples for beginners and suggestions to professionals according to new routines developed by professionals.

That concludes my top mobile day!

From the moment I wake up until the end of my day with a workout.

Thank you all for your time!
