So, I have finally BEGUN!

My adventure down the digital media marketing career path. With MyWineCanada giving me the opportunity to complete my internship with them. The company has so far really allowed me to get hands-on with their digital media marketing plans: manage their wine club social media accounts, creating posts, creatives, blogs, newsletters, access to analytics, and allowing me to be creative.


There was one difficulty with understanding their overall marketing plan and objectives. It did not seem to have a solid plan down like how I pictured most companies would have, especially after going through the GBC classes. Social media, MailChimp, SEO, and blogs don’t seem to have a solid cohesive direction. Their main social platforms are twitter, Facebook, and Instagram but they also have an account for the MyWineClub. This also seems strange at first but I am not 100% sure about it just yet.


However, I did realize that this is a great opportunity, the industry is still new and fresh to me. I have had lots of experience of coming up and “doing my own thing” in the hospitality industries.


In regard to a marketing plan, if the company, doesn’t really have a primary focus or if there is two primary focuses but no clear-cut division. Rather than being confused, I would treat both as something to achieve but which one comes first? For example, in the hospitality industry, the grand scheme is to have hotel guests with a happy experience and of course make some revenue. The difference lies on the focus, if you focus on revenue, you might not necessarily meet the goal of guests being happy. If you focus on the best experience for a guest and in turn it will bring revenue. So, apply the same mindset, the one issue I saw became an opportunity. End of the day, I feel like if I stay open minded, listening, observing, etc. a challenge is just something to learn from.
